It is already foreseen that future integrated photonic circuits for ultrafast all-optical signal processing will require various types of functional elements that include spectral management. Dynamical manipulations of the photonic crystals play an important role in order to route the optical signal between waveguide channels or may be among layers. Numerical methods are employed to analyze and design of photonic structures because of the difficulty in analytical approaches. The optical modeling methods help you design, manufacture, and deploy innovative optical systems that meet performance requirements and minimize production costs.
Within this scope, basic physics and novel applications, artificially structured materials and new devices, elegant mathematical techniques and efficient numerical methods to tackle the Maxwell equations form the constantly evolving subjects are discussed. Topics of interest for the tutorial on an optical wave and waveguide theory and numerical modeling address the physical understanding, the mathematical description, and the computational treatment of guided as well as non-guided optical waves and related effects in micro- and nanostructures. Latest innovations in the design and application examples show how to solve something problems. New ideas in the field of theoretical and computational photonics will bring to the students.
