Hybrid Boundary Elements Method and Application.

Streszczenie / Abstract:

The scientific team from the Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering University of Nis suggested a new method, so-called the EEM, for non-dynamic EM fields and other potential fields. The first good results were obtained, when the method was used for calculating the equivalent radius of uniform antennas. The HBEM (Hybrid Boundary Element Method) is based on the EEM (Equivalent Electrodes Method) and point-matching method (PMM). The main idea in HBEM application is that each arbitrary shaped surface of the PEC electrode as well as an arbitrary shaped boundary surface between any two dielectric layers is divided into a large number of segments. Each of those segments on PEC electrode is replaced by equivalent electrodes (EEs), placed at their centres. The potential of equivalent electrodes obtained in this manner is the same as the potential of PECs themselves. The segments at any boundary surfaces between two layers are replaced by discrete equivalent total charges placed in the air. The Green’s function for the electric scalar potential of the charges is used.

Combined with the EEM, the hybrid BEM can solve large-scale problems in electromagnetics. This opened up a wide range of applications for the HBEM. Some examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency, accuracy and potentials of the hybrid BEM for solving large-scale problems.

Using the results obtained by HBEM and the analogy between the electric and temperature fields, a heat distribution can be obtained in the vicinity of the cable terminations (CT) and cable joints (CJ), namely cable accessories (CA).
