Visit of guests from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology
24-06-2022From 22 to 23 June 2022, guests from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU-Trondheim) visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering: Dominik Osinski and Julia Czarnocka. During their stay, they conducted a seminar on modern forms of education used at the Norwegian university.
The very title of the presentation, Teaching through (spoiling) smoking, intrigued the participants, who asked the speakers plenty of questions. If our educational system, from primary school onwards, is geared towards avoiding mistakes and even using punishment if a mistake is made, then in this case it is worth turning it into a success by learning from the causes of the incident. Will a child learn to walk without ever falling? Will an engineer learn his craft without a single mistake? It is also worth mentioning that the education at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering is based on projects prepared by student teams. There are at least two such projects each semester. The seminar was followed by a meeting with second-semester students of electrical engineering and third-grade students of the BUT Academic Secondary School on how to study in Norway. The main role was played here by Julia Czarnocka, who is a fourth-semester student and at the same time plays the role of a so-called Learning Assistant, i.e. a person who assists younger students in achieving the required skills. On the following day, the guests met with the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Bogusław Butryło, DSc, PhD, Eng and the Head of the Department of Electronics, Power Electronics and Electrical Power Engineering Assoc. Prof. Wojciech Walendziuk, DSc, PhD, Eng. After the official meetings, there was also time to visit our city and the surrounding area.
The visit took place within the framework of the EDUCATION programme, in which our university’s partner is NTNU in Trondheim.
