Research and service offer of the High Voltage Technology Laboratory

27-06-2022

The EMC-LabNet project, which has been under way since 2016, is the result of the reported needs of research units and industry. The new infrastructure will provide a wider range of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests, particularly for new and innovative equipment and systems. The laboratory network is a joint venture of five research units: Wroclaw University of Technology – Project Leader, OBR Centrum Techniki Morskiej S.A. (Research and Development Centre, Maritime Technology Centre), Bialystok University of Technology, Rzeszow University of Technology and the Military University of Technology.

The investment part of Bialystok University of Technology task included the purchase and implementation of a mobile test stand for lightning resistance testing, as part of the modernisation of the research infrastructure of the Professor Andrzej W. Sowa High Voltage Technology Laboratory at the Research and Didactics Centre of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the BUT at 10 Zwierzyniecka St.

The specialisation of our laboratory is the generation of current pulses simulating lightning discharges and protection against the effects of these discharges. The research programme envisaged in the Research Agenda for Bialystok University of Technology includes the elaboration and development of methods and test procedures for testing the resistance of devices and systems to electromagnetic phenomena occurring during lightning discharges and their protection.
