From 22 to 26 June 2026, as part of the Erasmus+ programme, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Bialystok University of Technology hosted Krish Kumar Raj from Fiji. The straight-line distance between Fiji and Bialystok is over 15,500 kilometers.<\/p>\n

Krish Kumar Raj is a\u00a0research and teaching staff member (assistant) at the School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics at the University of the South Pacific (USP) in Suva, the capital of Fiji. He specializes in developing practical and cost-effective engineering solutions using modern technologies such as machine learning, neural networks, digital control, biomedical systems, and industrial diagnostics. His research interests include motor health prognostics, intelligent condition monitoring, and remaining useful life estimation. He has also contributed to projects such as a\u00a0low-cost emergency ventilator, a non-invasive glucometer, and machine learning-based diagnostic systems.<\/p>\n

During his visit, he met with the Director of the Institute of Automation, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Andrzej Ruszewski, PhD, DSc, and toured selected research and teaching laboratories. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences on teaching methods and to discuss possibilities for future teaching and research collaboration.<\/p>\n

The guest also delivered a\u00a0lecture for second-semester students of the Electromobility programme entitled \u201cMachine Learning Foundations in Classification and Regression with a\u00a0Real-World Environmental Case Study.\u201d The lecture covered the fundamentals of machine learning, with particular emphasis on classification and regression methods and their engineering applications. Key algorithms, model development stages, and challenges such as overfitting and underfitting were discussed. Practical examples included machine fault diagnostics, ECG signal analysis, and applications of artificial intelligence in agriculture. The lecture was met with great interest from students.<\/p>\n

During his stay, Krish Kumar Raj also visited the Library and the Centre for the History of Bialystok University of Technology.<\/p>\n
